Why Stone Island?

Stone Island is one of the most popular brands at La Boule. The Italian brand focuses on men and has a maritime, military and sporty look. It is a casual clothing brand.

Street culture is currently dominated by Stone Island. The fashion brand with the iconic compass logo combines minimalism with a sporty fit. Where most clothing brands start from a target group and produce the clothing around it, Stone Island is constantly improving materials and processes.

They  experiment with different fabrics and dyeing techniques. Ever since the first collections, they have been using reflective and thermo-sensitive fabrics, which change color and pattern with temperature changes. In this way, the brand creates clothing that is progressive and distinguishes itself from other brands in this way.

How did Stone Island originate?

In 1982 the Italian brand Stone Island was founded by Masimo Osti. Carlo Rivetti has been the big boss behind this brand since 1993. The head office is located in the city of Ravarino in northern Italy.

The name Stone Island is inspired by the most used words from the books of prose writer Joseph Conrad.

The Stone Island brand is known for its innovative fabrics. This concept has been a cornerstone of the brand from the very beginning. The first garments were a series of seven jackets made of military truck tarpaulin called "Tela Stella".

The Patch

Stone Island is known for their logo 'the patch' that is always attached to the left sleeve of the clothing and is the signature of the brand. The patch features the compass logo, which is a reference to a military badge and an ode to the maritime sector.

There are several versions of the famous Stone Island badge. The original badge had a green border, which was later replaced by a black border. There's also a black and white version, a "30 ANNI" badge below the compass logo for the brand's 30th anniversary, and an all-black version of the patch. The patch is attached to all polo shirts, whether it is the compass or an asterisk. On the polo shirts, “the patch” can be found on the chest on the right.
